Netflix has given the green light for the debut of the first officially licensed slot machine inspired by the TV series The Squid Game

The renowned streaming platform is venturing into the lucrative gambling industry, leveraging its popular series for commercial gain. Netflix has sanctioned the introduction of its new slot machine, Squid Game, representing its inaugural venture into consumer gambling licensing. This slot machine draws inspiration from Netflix’s globally acclaimed South Korean survival drama, Squid Game. Developed by gaming company Light and Wonder, it features a range of notorious and lethal games from the series, including Red Light, Green Light, Tug of War, and the Glass Tile.

Light and Wonder has introduced a series of virtual slot machines themed around “Squid Game.” These games are structured in three rounds, mirroring the series’ storyline. The “Squid Game” slot machine offers players the opportunity to win cash prizes ranging from $200,000 to $400,000. It’s expected that will be one of the first online casinos to add this slot to their website.

The game will be featured in Horizon, equipped with an expansive Jumbo screen. This includes a 75-inch display boasting a resolution of 600,000 pixels and micro-LED technology, complemented by a 27-inch touchscreen that supports mobile charging and has two playback buttons. These advanced technical specifications are designed to provide players with a fully immersive gaming experience.

Based in Las Vegas, Light and Wonder has a global workforce of 6,000 employees and offers a range of both physical and digital gaming products. Meanwhile, Netflix is gearing up for the launch of its new offering, “The Squid Game: The Challenge.” The official unveiling is scheduled for December 6 in Los Angeles. In this game, participants will face six challenges, with a strict time limit of 70 minutes to complete them all. Following its announcement, there has been immediate discussion regarding the ethical implications of the concept behind such a show.

Participation in the game requires purchasing a ticket, with prices starting at $39. “Squid Game,” which premiered in 2021, quickly soared in popularity. Netflix is aiming to mirror this success with the introduction of a new slot machine.

Currently, efforts are underway for the release of “The Squid Game” second season. Additionally, “Squid Game: The Challenge,” a reality show, is set to premiere on November 22. This show will feature 456 contestants from across the globe competing for a grand prize of $4.56 million.
